World Refugee Day in Mae La, Umpiem and Nupo Refugee camp in Mae Sot Areas

The World Refugee Day which is on June 20 2012, was organized in all 3 camps and attended by hundreds of interested refugees in each camp. Among various activities, some significant were Speeches made by the Thai Authority Camp Commanders and Camp Refugee Leaders about background and history of refugees. Topic focused was the Environment Issue. As refugees are parts of the community, they need to contribute to the restoration and protection of their community and environment. Wherever they are, whether in refugee camps or their homeland, they should be convinced to take care and protect their environment in order to transfer the good environment as well as to build a peaceful community for their younger generation. Another highlight activity is cultural performance by each refugee groups such as school children and representatives of tribes in the camps and various competition activities.
